WDM USA Launches New Road Safety Solutions in Canada with SCRIM® and Predictive Data

WDM USA, a global leader in road safety and pavement management data, specializing in continuous pavement friction measurement (CPFM) technology, is delighted to announce the introduction of new road safety solutions to its Canadian market.

Following measurable success in the United States, SCRIM® data, historically used to identify risk of wet road skidding, along with advanced predictive safety analytics and pavement safety performance data, are now available in Canada.

This marks an important step forward for Canadian transportation agencies, who can now access internationally proven tools to better understand roadway conditions, predict risk, and prioritize resources and investments.

For decades, SCRIM® testing has been the global standard in assessing pavement surface friction, directly linking roadway condition to crash risk. WDM has developed SCRIM®’s reliable and highly accurate data, combining with predictive safety analytics and long-term pavement performance data. Using these insights agencies gain the ability to implement predictive maintenance, which can:

  • Identify and mitigate high-risk sites before collisions occur
  • Optimize pavement maintenance investments based on safety performance as well as pavement condition
  • Develop proactive asset management strategies that extend service life while supporting Vision Zero and sustainability goals

WDM USA will be showcasing these capabilities at the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Annual Conference & Exhibition, taking place October 5-8, 2025, in Québec City.

“Canadian agencies are facing increasing pressure to deliver safer, more resilient infrastructure,” said Ryland Potter, Vice President, WDM USA, “With SCRIM® data and predictive analytics now available, we’re excited to support agencies in integrating safety performance into everyday pavement and asset management decisions.”

Agencies and industry partners are invited to connect with WDM USA at TAC 2025 to learn more about how these tools can be applied across Canadian networks.
